Works well, blades could be sharper August 9, 2010 spike 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The unit is very easy to set up and use. I was plesently surprised that I was able to figure everything out without the need of instructions. I charged it overnight and used it the next day. The blades could be sharper though. I used the higher setting and still had grass left after the cut. I am going to take the blades to get them sharpened and see if this takes care of the issue. I would recommend this mower for small yards. The battery lasts maybe an hour.
Worx Cordless Lawnmower August 6, 2010 pearl44 This product was purchased a month ago and it is one of the best purchases I have made. As a single woman, I had looked for a lightweight, non-gasoline, lawnmower that was easy to use. The WORX 36-volt cordless mower fit the bill, so I ordered it. I was delighted to receive the mower as promised. It was easy to put together and took little time to prepare for use. The battery was easy to charge; I just plugged it into an electrical outlet and waited for the green lights to alert me that the battery was fully charged. My lawn is fairly small and I was thrilled when I cut the lawn for the first time, using this mower. It was simple to start and easy to maneuver. The mower cut right through the tall grass. Since the first time I have used the machine to mow the lawn, I have used it two more times without having to recharge the battery. I would highly recommend this mower.
Great Product August 5, 2010 Larry & Kristie Shirkey Have used it 4 times since recieving it and each time doesn't much go off full charge! Live in Florida and have St. Augustine grass, cuts it without a problem. Like the ease of one adjustment for wheel height. Really like all features of this mower. No GAS or OIL to mess with. Only problem was with shipping first one came with box damage and did not work. Got them to send replacement ASAP, not without a few small glitches with customer service. Over all glad we bought it.
the future of mowing today August 5, 2010 skeptic Imagine a world with no oil changes, no smelly gas that can go stale, no priming bulb, no filters to get clogged, no spark plugs that can go bad, no vapor lock, and no dirty carburetor. Are you picturing it, well I am living it every time I mow now. I have had nothing but bad luck with lawnmowers, including this past spring when I researched and purchased a cub cadet. It was a lemon and thankfully the place I purchased it from let me return it after failing 3 times in the first two months. So after years of dealing with all the problems above I decided to look into an electric option. I was so happy I did. Neighbors have commented on how quite this machine is, and that includes having it in power mode. I have a huge lawn stretched across 4 lots and I can get two mows in before I have to recharge on standard power. The power boost mode works great I only needed it the first time out because it had been a while since I mowed. I was worried about it not being self-propelled but it is so light (plastic everything) that it mows easily (the weight is all in the battery). I like the one lever height adjustment, and the easy adjust handle makes storing easy. My complaint with the handle (used for holding onto when mowing) is that it feels like it could break at any second but doesn't (and I don't think will) so that is not a real concern. I think that has to do with the easy adjust function I have never had on any mower in the past. I wish the power gauge was higher up and not on the battery itself, but it is not a problem unless you are running low on power. My other complaint is that occasionally it will leave an errant strand of grass I need to go back over, but honestly that is really knit picking and I cannot say I never had to do that with a gas mower. If you have the stress of dealing with dirty carburetors, stale gas, or vapor lock, like me I say the stress free mowing experience this provides is worth the extra cost. This machine is also very "green". Also, I have only used the mulcher so I cannot comment on the bagging option or side-discharge. I guess the big questions that remain are will there be service issues at some point and how long the battery lasts. This is an update: there are two things I don't like about this mower, one is that the blade is much smaller than the 19 inch deck (not a huge deal), and two and also most importantly how the front wheels are way forward from the deck. This creates a problem when it comes to mowing up against things like fences, walls, or any blockade, and you will need to use a trimmer in these places which I usually can mow with regular (gas) mowers. Personally, I don't understand why they placed the wheels so far forward, their is no mechanical reasoning for it, maybe it is a balance issue?
Poor Quality and Poor Customer Service August 3, 2010 Donna M Ward 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the cordless WORX lawnmower in June and by mid July it would not start anymore. The battery was fine, so I assume it is the engine. I tried to contact WORX via their email, but the reply stated something to the effect that due to high volume they were unable to respond to my email. So I called. And due to high volume I was prompted to leave my return phone number and they would respond by next business day. OK, so they did respond next business day. However their customer service was poor. I was responded to with quite a few "uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah". Very annoying for an engineer who knows the battery is charged and the item is defective. The nearest "authorized service representative" is 40 miles away and is only open the same hours I happen to work - you know 8-5, Monday-Friday. So as soon as I can take time off work, I will be loading the lawnmower into my car and taking the hour there, hour back trip. I was already forewarned there is a two week waiting period before they can get to my unit, even if I call ahead (first come, first serve). So I might get my lawnmower back by the end of summer. Good thing I kept my gas-powered lawnmower! So in summary, beware if you actually have an issue and have to deal with the warranty. Both the help desk and the authorized service representatives are not customer oriented. :-(
