 What a Great Mower November 23, 2009

I was very surprised that I could put this mower together in ten minutes or less with no tools. It was almost too simple to assemble. All I had to do was assemble the handle, which was in two parts, using two bolts with wing nuts. Then, I attached the handle to the mower, which easily snapped into place with very little force.
I used my new mower for the first time this week and absolutely love it. I am disabled and handicapped with a pacemaker and other health problems. I wanted a lightweight mower that could cut through our thick St. Augustine grass in Florida. This mower mowed the grass, without hesitation. At around 35 pounds, this mower is one of the lightest I could find, and it feels even lighter when I push it. My wife agrees. I let her and her friend try it and they were both volunteering to mow for me.
This mower is amazing. I mowed one section of my lawn each day and it was as easy, if not easier than vacuuming. I barely felt it. The cord was hardly a problem. Once I got past the first few rows, the cord followed me and never got in the way.
I used the mower in mulching mode, without a bag, and it mulched the grass so well that I could not find any clippings lying on the lawn when I was finished mowing. It was also much quieter than my old gas-powered mower. This mower might even be quieter than our bagless, upright vacuum cleaner.
This mower is a keeper! I was a little bit concerned whether getting this lighter 9 amp mower instead of it's bigger brother, the heavier MM875 12 amp mower would be a mistake, but it was not a mistake at all.
I happy to have no more hard starting of the lawn mower. It starts when you squeeze and hold the orange trigger against the mower handle. I got rid of my lawn service and will save myself about $1,000 a year in lawn service costs. I also purchased a Craftsman 12 amp electric edger at Sears and it's also very powerful and lightweight. The edger barely vibrates, which is a good thing for me, because people with pacemakers are not supposed to use anything that vibrate and my old gas-powered edger vibrated my hands, until they were practically numb.
Since I have the 100 foot extension cord out and plugged in when I'm finished mowing I simply grab my handheld blower and blow the lawn debris off the top of the mower and it looks new again. I don't see myself ever needing to buy the bag for my mower. I've always used a mower with a bag, but without a bag, the mower stays lightweight and is a lot less work because you never have to empty the bag. Now my yard looks like a park.

You have to get used to mowing with a cord, which is challenging at first. But this cuts through thick grass just as well as my old gas powered mower did. I also do not have the same grass/gas odor after mowing. I love it! My yard is a quarter acre, which probably makes it much more manageable than a larger yard with this would be.

This is my third Black & Decker electric mower/mulcher lawn mower. The first was well used when I gave it away while I was temporarily waylaid with breast cancer. The second one I purchased new and used until it just did not want to go anymore. The third one I recently purchased through Amazon.com because Sears had discontinued it. I enjoy yard work and am thrilled when I find the exact right machine with which to work. For lawn mowing, this is it. I want no other!

This lawn mower is everything it is advertised to be. Cuts my small 170 sq ft lawn perfectly, and mulches the grass nicely so there is no need for raking the grass after mowing. Easy to assembly and very easy to move around. I also liked the fact that the manual told you what setting to put the cutting height on for each types of grass. Electric cord was not a problem for me, never got in the way of mowing. I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight electric mower.

This lawnmower is just right for our small city lawn. We had an old gas powered one that belched smoke and made a terrible noise, so this electric one is a great replacement. Cuts great, light, easy to use. Learning to remember the cord is kind of tricky, but so far no cord chops. There was 1 little glitch-the first one delivered didnt work. I have seen this reported in other reviews. But Amazon took it back, had it picked up and the next day there was our new one. Luckily we had saved the box. But I highly recommend this mower if you have a small area that you mow.
