Amazon.com Product Description If you're in the market for a solid, economical electric mower, the Black & Decker 18-inch electric mower is worth a look. Powered by a high-efficiency, 6.5 amp, Black & Decker motor, this mower offers quiet, hassle-free operation, without the mess and expense of gas-and-oil models. No need for tune-ups and pull starts, either. This mower weighs just 36 pounds, making it easy to push and maneuver in the lawn. It features an 18-inch cutting blade; side discharge (optional Black & Decker side bag assembly #BA-075 sold separately); a rust-proof, polymer deck; and one-touch height adjustment (from 1 to 3-1/2 inches). Tool-free assembly means you'll be up and mowing quickly, while a lifetime deck warranty and two-year warranty on the mower itself provide added peace of mind. --Carl Thress

If only everything was this amazing! March 10, 2010 April Bein I have completely fallen in love with my new Black & Decker electric lawn mower. I am a single mom and ALWAYS hated trying to get the pull starts even started!
This mower starts at a the pull of a lever, so no screaming at the mower to start and doing angry dances in fits of vehement rage that your mower won't start.
No gas fumes so I am saving money right off on not having to purchase stinky gas that has to sit around in my shed or oil that someone forgot to put in the mower a few years ago and blew the engine!
My wonderful new lawnmower is amazing so much better and more proficient at mulching the grass and dead leaves and viney plants that were growing into my grass from the neighbors' yard (yeah they need one too!)
Its lightweight, you don't need self propelled anything its easy to maneuver around my yard even through the area's that aren't even.
Oh yeah my daughter thinks its nifty that I am being green...
Now if finding the most wonderful guy out there was as easy as purchasing this off of Amazon.com I would have life made!
Good mower, but it didn't last long. December 30, 2009 A. Gunawan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this mower 5 years ago, and it lasted only 3 years. The motor is not well designed and its quality is low. One of the thin wire snapped off, and it's not worth fixing. Buying a new motor costs more than buying a new mower. As always, replacement parts are ridiculously overpriced. If you decide to buy this mower, and plan to use it for more than a couple years, I suggest buying 2 of them. One to use, the other one for part replacements.
If your lawn is about 5000sq ft, and you mow about twice a month, 4 months a year, this mower should be fine. But if you mow weekly and you have thick, well maintained lawn, I suggest paying more for MM875. It's more powerful and includes a bag, which costs additional $30-$40 for the LM175 model.
Good, basic electric mower December 28, 2009 Joseph V. D'anna (Winter Park, FL. United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have used it several times. Very light, so it is easy to push. Nice not to have to deal with gas and pull starting. It is quieter than a gas mower, but still makes some noise. Cuts the grass well. I purchased the bag for it, also. The bag works fine, but could be a little bigger. It gets the job done. The cord is not that big a hassle. But, I have a small lot, 120x75. A large yard may present more of a challenge. But, I like it.
Worth more than the price! December 18, 2009 Farleytron (Florida) Wow!
I was skeptical that an electric mower for $100 would be able to handle my lawn.
Boy was I wrong!
What a great little mower! I'm saving plenty of money over using a gasoline powered mower... plus, it's quieter, cleaner, and just as powerful as a gas mower in the same price range (read: cheap).
It cuts through overgrown deep grass without too much fuss... might need to go back over spots to catch any missed grass... but not a big deal!
I've had mine for two summers and it's still working fantastic!
Yard vacuum? December 5, 2009 D. Hendrick I bought this mower in early fall after my grass quit growing so it really hasn't been tested fully. I did run it as soon as I got it and it seemed to work fine.
Today I experimented using it as a leaf vacuum with marginal success. It does a good job of picking up the leaves but the limiting factor is the capacity of the bag which may be fine for grass but not for a yard-full of leaves. I had to empty the bag perhaps a dozen times doing my back yard. A rake would be easier unless the yard is small and/or the leaves are few. The mower itself held up its end, though. I'm happy with it.
